About us

The principal activity of the Cullen, Deskford & Portknockie Heritage Group (CDPHG) is to identify, protect, record and raise awareness of our local history and to provide community access to it at the heritage centre. A number of local people interested in the history of the area first met in Cullen Library in 1990. A regular programme of meetings became established and these still continue to attract a wide range of people, both members and non members. Future events are listed here.

An annual heritage exhibition was held every July at the Memorial Hall in Cullen for a number of years until 2020, when the Group was able to obtain a long term lease of the hall. This enabled the establishment of a permanent Heritage Centre, open from April until October, six days per week. It is free to enter and staffed by volunteer members. This has proved to be very successful, attracting over 6,000 visitors during the 2025 season.

The centre opens again April 2, 2026. Everyone keeping the centre open is a volunteer and you would be welcome to get involved. We also take donations of items of local historical interest. CDPHG is Scottish Charity number 048162.
